A little publishing milestone for BoN Editions!
My first guest article has been published on The Motivational Editor, hosted by author and editor Debra L. Butterfield.
“Your First Book Cover: How to Write a One-Page Design Brief” is for independent authors who know their story but aren’t quite sure how to explain what they want on the cover.
Because translating an entire novel into a single image is difficult enough. Explaining that image to a designer shouldn’t require another novel.
In the article, I share practical advice on putting together a useful design brief, finding the right visual direction, and avoiding common cover-design headaches. Naturally, a little humor found its way in too.
A big thank-you to Deb for publishing my work and supporting independent creatives.

The guest article is out in the world. While it negotiates with the publishing industry, here are three more stories from the studio.

A mentor can offer directions, but the instruction manual is apparently sold separately.
– The Secret to Success as an Artist? I Wish I Knew
The internet has a thousand formulas for creative success. None comes with a warranty.
– How Am I Supposed to Write a Case Study When I Have No Idea How My Work Was Created?
A behind-the-scenes look at creativity, starring a sleepwalking penguin.
